Rudez, Croatia Down Scola’s Argentina Team

August 31, 2014 – On Sunday, the two Pacers competing in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup were matched up against one another. Luis Scola of Argentina and Damjan Rudez of Croatia went head to head, and when the final horn blew, it was a 90-85 win for Rudez’s Croatia.

Scola, however, did just about everything in his power to will Argentina (1-1) to victory, shooting 11-of-19 from the field for a game-high 30 points. He also matched his rebounding effort from yesterday with nine boards.

For Croatia (2-0), Rudez stuck to doing what he does best: 3-point shooting. The 6-foot-10 forward sunk 2-of-6 shots from behind the arc for six points. One of those baskets came at the beginning of the fourth quarter and put Croatia up by 11. It was the second game in a row in which Rudez has made an impact in the final period of the game.

The players will be in action again tomorrow when Croatia takes on Senegal at 6:30 AM EST, and Argentina plays the Philippines at 11:30 AM.
