Plane hit by baggage cart delays Pacers return 12 hours

This is not what any of the Pacers wanted, particularly after a loss and while still trying to recover from a challenging March schedule, which featured 18 games — 11 coming on the road.

After coming up short in Toronto against the Raptors, the team had cleared customs and was ready to board their charter plane by 11:30 p.m. when they learned the bad news.

A few hours later, however, they decided to call it a night.

And their bags, which had already cleared customs, stayed at the airport.

So, they tried it again around 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

The team finally returned to Indianapolis around 1:30 p.m., about 12 hours behind schedule. There would be no practice today, ahead of Sunday’s game against Atlanta,

Travels problems like this one don’t make it easy on their time or bodies. But it’s not the first — and certainly won’t be the last. Previously this season, they were delayed getting to San Antonio from Utah.

So, what good can the Pacers take out of this? Team bonding, hopefully. Although they are already together during the season more than they’re with their family.

All that excess time on the road could’ve potentially been great for them to hash things out even more than they already have. It wouldn’t surprise me if they held a film session either before catching the flight or while on it. The regular season concludes in less than two weeks now, so Indiana has to begin hitting its stride — once again.
