Donald Sloan to miss weekend pair of road games

The Pacers will be thin at point guard for this weekend’s pair of games — both on the road. Third-string point guard Donald Sloan isn’t with the team for personal reasons, according to a source, and won’t rejoin them until after the weekend.

C.J. Watson, Indiana’s backup point guard, has missed the last four games because of a sprained right elbow. An MRI taken at the beginning of this week revealed soreness to that right elbow, an injury that previously bothered him two years ago in Chicago. He’s still sore but can play. If Watson is limited, Pacers coach Frank Vogel will likely have his wings rotate handling the ball.

Tonight, the Pacers are in Philadelphia to play the 76ers, who’ve lost 18 games in a row. They will then finish up their 18th set of back-to-back games Saturday night in Detroit.

Sloan, who’s one of the first Pacers on the floor for warmups almost three hours before each game, sent out the following good-luck Instagram to his teammates:
