George Hill withdraws from Team USA minicamp

Pacers point guard George Hill has pulled out of USA Basketball’s four-day minicamp this week in Las Vegas due to a scheduling conflict. Hill’s G3 Rising Stars youth basketball camp will be going on at the same time in Texas.

Monday morning, Hill tweeted the following:

Chicago Bulls forward Taj Gibson (ankle) has also withdrawn, trimming the roster to 28 as camp commences Monday and runs from July 22-25. Gibson and Hill would have been the two oldest players in camp, where players are preparing and trying to prove their case to be on the 2014 World Cup team that will compete in Madrid. Pacers swingman Paul George will be participating.

Hill originally declined an invitation in early June but that was due to a misunderstanding of camp dates. He was later officially added to the then 29-man roster on July 16.

The full roster, which includes Indiana natives Mike Conley, Gordon Hayward and Tyler Zeller, can be viewed here: 2013 USA Basketball Minicamp Roster.
