This One’s All On George
Just ahead of the dunk contest on Saturday night (around 9:30 PM EST), where Gerald Green will try for his second title, first-time All-Star Paul George will try to shoot his way to victory in the Foot Locker Three-Point Contest. Literally. George’s teammate, Danny Granger, as well as Hall of Famer Reggie Miller previously participated in the shootout.
“Unlike the dunk contest, this is all on you,” George said. “No judges, just make shots.”
Rounding out the field are Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans Hornets, Matt Bonner of the San Antonio Spurs, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Steve Novak of the New York Knicks.
Novak and Curry, both 45 percent shooters behind the arc, have to be the favorites. Through 52 games, George has made 115-of-298 attempts, a 39 percent mark.
There will be five shooting stations setup around the three-point line, with four Official Spalding NBA game balls worth one point each and one “money ball” worth two points at each location. Each player will have one minute to shoot as many balls as he can. The highest scorer in each conference will then go through another
George and Gerald Green, plus the Indiana Fever’s Tamika Catchings, who’s involved with the Sears Shooting Stars, will not only compete to win their event, but also contribute to what they hope will be an Eastern Conference victory.
